MY STORY

After losing my father and mother, I knew that something else was missing from my life. I had almost no recordings of my parents’ lives. There were several old unidentified photos, some grainy home movies fading away in shoe boxes, but I had nothing that would show what kinds of lives they led.

I had not captured my father’s sense of humor, my mother’s talent for playing the piano, nothing of them talking about what their lives were like. Their lives were literally fading away in front of me. I knew there were thousands of people like me who were in danger of losing their heritage. As a photographer, I was mad at myself for letting this happen. I also knew that I wanted to do something about it.
